مسرحيه من نوع التراجيدى كتبها ويليام شكسپير ، ما بين سنة 1603 و 1606 وظهرت على المسرح لأول مرة فى سنة 1606. وظهرت على مسارح كثيره فى العالم و مثلها ممثلين مشهورين و ترجمت للغات كتثرة وتعتبر من اشهر مسرحيات شكسبير. تدور أحداث المسرحية حول "الملك لير" الذي قرر أن يوزع املاكه علي بناته الثلاثة ولإن ابنته الصغري لم تشأ أن تنافقه فقد حرمها من نعمه، واثناء توزيعه للأملاك اشترط أن يقيم مع كل واحدة من بناته لفترة معينة غير أن ابنتيه الكبيرتان تقرران الاستيلاء علي كل شئ وتطردا والدهما الذي لا يجد الملاذ سوي لدي ابنته الصغري.
