مثّلت إعادة انتخاب جورج بوش تكريساً لهيمنة الفكر "التكفيري" لـ"المحافظين الجدد"، في وقت كان فيه العالمان العربي والإسلامي يشهدان "انتفاضة" غير مسبوقة لخلايا الحركات الأصولية المسلحة. يقيم هذا الكتاب رابطاً عضوياً بين سياسة الحرب والاحتواء الأميركية ـ البريطانية، وبين فكر سيد قطب وتلميذه أيمن الظواهري وكل من أسامة بن لادن والزرقاوي. ويتطرق إلى مفكري كلا التيارين ومنظريه، ويفكّك نظرياتهم، ويحلل فتاويهم. ويرى أن كلا الفكرين يبرّر طرح الفكر الآخر، ويبني رؤيته على شكل كابوس يمثله "الآخر"، ويقيم سلطته ونفوذه عبر التخويف منه، وتخوينه وتكفيره... وقتله. ويسعى الكاتب إلى "فك ارتباط" بين سياسة "المحافظين الجدد"، وبالتالي السياسة الإسرائيلية، وبين غالبية اليهود الأميركيين المؤيّدة للسلام. ويرى أن أكثرية هؤلاء لا تؤيّد السياسة الأميركية ـ الإسرائيلية، ويعتبر أن أهم المدافعين عن القضية الفلسطينية داخل الولايات المتحدة ينحدرون من اليهود الأميركيين.
