ذلك الثقل الذي نحس به في أعلى الذراع قد يكون الأثر الباقي لخوف عطل المخيلة، أو أحرقها كما يفعل تيار بمصنع. حين يغدو التوديع عمل الحياة الوحيد فإن الذاكرة التي تتماوت لا تتزحزح عن الباب. إنها تحيي باعتذار ولا تشيع زوارها، تنظر إلى ما وراء الأشجار حيث الجريمة تعمل بقانون الحياة الطبيعي نفسه. ماذا تقول برقة لم مفاجئة في أعلى الذراع سوى أن هذه الحد لا صورة وراءه سوى الأنين الذي تظم أنه صوت الذراع الطبيعي".
