روت الأخبار أنّ الرسول "كان من أفكه الناس"مع الصبية والأهل والأصحاب.اختارت المؤلّفة الحديث النبوي الشريف متناً لتثبت أن للفَكَه في الإسلام مكانة عالية إلى جانب الجدّ. وأنّ الدين لم يكن زهداً وتزمّتاً وطقوساً وعبادةً متواصلة، بل كان أيضاً فُسحة للترويح عن النفس وطرفة ونادرة ومزاحاً وضحكاً. وأنّ الفَكَهَ لم يكن ضدّاً للمقدّس وطعناً فيه ورفضاً، بل هو يعمل في رحابه ويسير في ركبه. اعتمدت المؤلّفة كتب الأحاديث التسعة التي تحظى بالإجماع والوثوق. ونهجت في تناول الأحاديث المختارة في موضوع الفكه منهجاً جديداً، فركّزت الاهتمام على متون الأحاديث، وبناها التركيبية والفنّية والقصصية، معتمدة أسلوب التفكيك والاستنطاق، بحثاً عن المعنى المصرّح به أو المسكوت عنه.
