موقف البابا شنودة من القدس واحد من الموضوعات المهمة التي تار حولها النقاش في السنوات القليلة الماضية، ويستمد الموضوع أهميته من مكانة البابا كرأس لأحد المذاهب المسيحية، ومن أهمية القدس في الوجدان الديني والمسيحي والإسلامي، كما يستمد أهميته من كون القدس صلب أهم صراع حضاري ديني سياسي يشهده القرن العشرون هو الصراع العربي الإسلامي / الصهيوني المشتعل منذ الثاني من نوفمبر 1917. وأهم ما في هذا الكتاب احتواؤه على النص الكامل لوثيقة صوتية للبابا عرض فيها وجهة نظره في قضية القدس بتفصيل أكبر، وقد تضمنت سجالا كنسيا اشتبك فيه السياسي والديني على نحو يغري بالتأمل والبحث. وقد ضمنت الكتاب تتبعا لموقف البابا من القدس منذ زيارة السادات المشئومة للقدس حتى صدور هذه الوثيقة الصوتية.
