هل الكنيسة القبطية الأرثوذكسية على أعتاب تحول تاريخي؟
الإجابة التي يحملها هذا الكتاب هي: نعم! والتحول هو باتجاه التفكك.
وقد كتب الكتاب قبل ثورة الخامس والعشرين من يناير وكانت فرضيته أن حدوث تحول ديموقراطي في مصر سيكتب نهاية الكنيسة القبطية الأرثوذكسية التي أشعلت صراعاً على هوية مصر منذ تولي رئاستها البابا شنودة الثالث. وقد كان مناخ الاحتقان الطائفي الذي شهدته مصر خلال العقود الأربعة الماضية نوعاً من "الهروب إلى الأمام"، حيث كان الإلحاح على صورة الأقلية المضطهدة أو حتى "المهددة بالإبادة" يستهدف في المقام الأول ترميم تصدعات عقائدية كبيرة داخل الكنيسة لها ما يماثلها في الكنيسة الكاثوليكية الغربية.
وقد بدت الأزمة واضحة عند صدور أعمال مثل رواية "عزازيل" أو الترجمة العربية لرواية "شفرة دافنشي" أو عند استعادة الدولة المصرية مخطوط "إنجيل يهوذا".... وهكذا.
وعليه فقد قرأ المؤلف جانبا من الأزمة في مرآة أزمة الكنيسة الكاثوليكية الغربية التي تعاني هي الأخرى أزمة عميقة ساهمت طبيعتها في تفاقمها. والكتاب قراءة في تحول عالمي بالأساس يتمثل في تراجع الباباويات، لكنة لا يغفل الخصوصية المصرية. ولعل السؤال الذي يخرج القارئ من الكتاب: ما دلالة أن الاحتقان الطائفي في مصر ظاهرة "أرثوذكسية" في المقام الأول؟ ولماذا لا تظهر بالقدر نفسه في كنائس أخرى كالإنجيلية مثلا؟
