يعنى هذا الكتاب بالتعبيرات اللسانية، وخاصة غير اللسانية التي تسكن مجالاتنا وأمكنتنا الاجتماعية. ويحاول أن يرى ما لا يرى عادة من نصيات وأنسجة رمزية يصعب وأنسجة رمزية يصعب الإمساك بخيوطها دون مقاربة تسمح بالتنافذ بين السيميولوجيا والسوسيولوجيا، ضمن حقل منهجي ومعرفي واحد. وما كان له أن يدرك هذا المنال، فيبنى ما يسميه ((النص الاجتماعي)) لو كان اكتفى بهذه المقاربة دون تلك. هذا هو رهان هذا الكتاب : البحث في منطقة التقاطع، نظريا وتطبيقيا، بين حقلين معرفيين، ظلا متباعدين على الأقل في سوسيولوجيتنا العربية، نسميه ((السيميولوجية الاجتماعية))، ولقد أمكن هذا التداخل من تحقيق مكسبين على الأقل: الأول، فسح المجال أمام السوسيولوجي ليبني نصه الاجتماعي من غير المكتوب، كأن ينسج، مثلا، من المطارات او من الفضاءات التجارية الكبرى نصا اجتماعيا، كما فعل كليفورد جيرتز في ((لعبة الجحيم))، أو كما تعامل سيغموند فرويد مع الأحلام، أو نيتشه مه ((إرادة القوة)). أما الثاني، فيتتبع العلامة في ((حلها وترحالها))، وما يطرأ عليها من تحول دلالي حينما تتجول في السياق الاجتماعي، فتعود محملة بمعان مختلفة فرضها المستعمل وجغرافيته وأوضاعه الاقتصادية. يتعلق الأمر كذلك في هذه المحاولة النظرية والتطبيقية بتليين حقل الاجتماعي وتلطيفه بعدم الاكتفاء بالبنى الاجتماعية، أو بما هو جلي، ظاهر ، تعلقا بما هو خفي، كامن، يسمح بمراودة الأنسجة التي توجد بعيدا في ثنايا الظواهر الاجتماعية، موضوع عالم الاجتماع دون أن يرى رموزها وعلاماتها، وما يتآلف بينها من أنظمة وبنى هي وليدة أوضاعها وظروفها وخصوصياتها.
