وسوف نتناول المسائل في هذه الطبعة بالطريقة التي تناولناها بها في الطبعات السابقة : فندرس جغرافية فينيقية وتاريخها، ثم الدين، وهو عنصر أساسي من العناصر المقومة للجماعات القديمة، ثم الفن وهو يعد في معظم مظاهره تابعا للدين. ثم نعرض بعد ذلك ما نعلمه عن الملاحة في فينيقية، وعن تجارتها. ثم نمس ناحية الفقه اللغوي؛ فتتطرق بنا هذه الناحية إلى عرض النظريات المختلفة الخاصة بأصل الحروف الهجائية، فإذا انتهينا من تقرير هذه الحقائق استطعنا أن نتناول : مشكلات الجنس وأصول الحضارة الفينيقية والدور الحقيقي الذي قام به الفينيقيون في توجيه التطور الإنساني. وقد بدا لنا أنه من المستحيل ان تتم صورة الحضارة الفينيقية دون أن نعرض ولو على سبيل الاختصار لحضارة قرطاجنة لما بين فينيقية وقرطاجنة من صلة في أكثر من ناحية. ولكنا مع ذلك اضطررنا إلى ألا نذكر إلا عرضا كثيرا من المستعمرات الفينيقية الأخرى وكثيرا من المراكز التجارية الفينيقية التي كانت منبثة في أنحاء العالم القديم.
