هذه الدراسات المصنفة في هذه المجموعة تمثل حلقة مهمة من حلقات تاريخ بلاد المغرب في العصر الوسيط، تسعى إلى سد بعض الثغرات في تاريخ الخلافة الفاطمية في مرحلتها المغربية، فالإخباريون الذين دونوا أخبار هذه الفترة لم يهتموا إلا بالأحداث العسكرية الكبرى، لأن هذه المرحلة في نظرهم هي مرحلة عسكرية انتقالية، عمل فيها الفاطميون على تحقيق حلم العودة إلى المشرق. مما جعل الباحثين المحدثين لا يعيرون اهتماما لقضايا المجتمع، وظلت بالتالي كثيرا من قضايا التاريخ المغربي مضببة ومغيبة لعجز المظان عن تقديم الأسئلة التي يطرحها الباحثون. من هنا تأتي الدعوة الملحة للكشف عن بعض خبايا هذه المرحلة، ومن شأن هذا المسعى أن يفتح المجال أمام الباحثين في حقل التاريخ الفاطمي، لتخطي الحاجز الذي وضعه الإخباريون، وذلك بالتجديد المنهجي والتعامل مع مصادر جديدة وقراءتها على ضوء ما وصلت إليه المناهج من تطور. وإثارة تساؤلات حول قضايا أغفلتها المصادر.
