إذا ما تناولنا تاريخ الفكر الإنساني وما عبرت عنه نزعاته، واتجاهاته، ومدارسه، وأنساقه سوف ندرك أنه حلقات متصلة من الرؤى والتصورات التي تحمل مضامينها صفائح المقاومة. وعلى الرغم من تباين سياقاتها، إلا أن جميعها قد اتخذ من التفسير، والتبرير، والتغيير أدوات للتفاعل مع الواقع الذي تشعر به الذات. وقد اختلفت آليات المقاومة تبعا لمقدار وعي، وحرية، وقدرة، وقوة الذات المقاومة، والبنية الثقافية التي لفظتها، وطبيعة الروح الجامحة والجانحة والمجترئة على السلطات التي تحول بينها وبين إثبات تواجدها. وإذا ما سلمنا بهذا الطرح سوف يقودنا ذلك إلى الإعتراف بقانون التحدي والاستجابة الذي يرد إليه ارتقاء الحضارات وأفولها، وحوار الثقافات وتصارعها، وتجديد المعايير التي تفصل بين المجديين، والمبديين، والتقدميين، والرجعيين، والثائرين، والإرهابيين، والمصلحين، والمفسدين، وأصحاب الرسالات ، والماجنين. ولما كان التاريخ لا يعنى إلا بسرد الوقائع ووصف الواقعات، بات لزاما علينا إعادة قراءته، للكشف عن الأبعاد الفلسفية الكامنة وراء صفائح المقاومة، والوقوف على حقيقة الدور الذي لعبته لإنهاض مجتمعاتها، ونقد مضمون خطاباتها، وتقييم إسهاماتها في ضوء الواقع المعيش. ولم يكن أحمد فارس الشدياق إلا واحدا من أولئك الذين استحالت صحائف مصنفاتهم إلى صفائح للتثقيف والتنوير، معلنة عن اعتناقها لفلسفة المقاومة ضد كل السلطات التي تحول بينها وبين رغبتها الصادقة في إصلاح الفاسد، وتثقيف المعوج لإنهاض الأمة العربية الإسلامية من كبوتها.
