في رحلة غريبة عبر الزمن وصلا إلى بداية العالم، قطعا الأيام، مشيا في اتجاه الشمس، حيث المنطقة البعيدة ولظروف القاسية، والشمس الحارقة, والحياة البدائية، تحركا بين مصر والسودان عبر الدروب والمتاهات التي تملأ الصحراء، وصولا إلى قبائل الزويل حيث كل شئ مختلف: الطقوس، العادات، التعاليم، الأحكام، الأقاليم، طبقات العمر، يمشي الواحد منهم خمسة أيام متصلة دون ماء أو كسرة خبز، إنها طبيعة الزويليين التي تأبى عليهم البقاء في مكان واحد، دائما بعيدون عن الحضر لا يضمهم تجمع واحد ولا قبيلة بعينها، تحيطهم رهبة، أخبارهم دائما مبهمة، إجراءاتهم صارمة، منهم من أرسل طوافا حول العالم في مهمة خاصة، ومنهم من لم يغادر بؤرة الزويل أبدا، فوق قمم الجبال، وفي بطون الوديان، وبجوار مدقات الصحراء .. يرصد الغرباء، كلهم في انتظار سيد البرق والغمام .. عندما ترتعش الجبال وترتجف ذرات الرمال، ويبسط سلطانهم على العالم. من أجل تلك اللحظة يتحركون بيننا، ويبعثون بأخبارنا وأخبار العالم في رسائلهم الخاصة إلى شيخهم شيخ الزمان، ملثم الوجه الذي لا يراه أحد فما هو إلا تجسيد ظاهر لروح زويل الكبير، إنها رواية غريبة تلمس أغوار مجهولة، وتكشف واقعا لم ينكأ أبدا.
