أما بعد, اعلم يا أخى الحميم, أيدك البارئ الكريم بمدد من عنده, أننى ما أقدمت على البوح لك أنت إلا بعد انقضاء مدى, وما شعرت إلا بعد تعاقب أحوال شتى صعب على كتمانها, اقترن فيها قربى ببعدى, واتصالى بانفصالى, وخلف أمرى بتوفيقه, وتبادلت جهاتى المواقع, حتى قوى على الشك أن ما جرى, جرى, خاصة مع تزايد الحضور بغير كينونة ملموسة, وتكرار الظهور بغير معاينة محسوسة, بعد انزواء جل العلاقة فى مجرد عبق خفى مستور بالحجب, فلو أفضيت بما عندى بعد اكتمال الأوبة, واستقرار العودة, لو لمحت إلى ما توالى على, ما صدقنى الأقربون, حتى وقع عندى شتات بين إقبالى على من أصل أسبابى بهم, لأبوح وأسفر, وتوقى إلى النأى والصمت وطى صحفى, هذا ما غلب على, خاصة مع بعد الشقة, وانتفاء المحط, وشحط الرؤية, وانعدام المجاوبة على رسائلى. وزوال معالم الصورة الوحيدة عندى, ووهن دقات الساعة الخزفية التى أودعتها بين يدى. والأصعب, انتفاء الإمكانية, أحيانا تهدئنى الرؤى, غير أنها تبدد, فى يتبقى إلا قفر المفازة, وغول الطريق, فأنثنى ململما فؤادى طاويا دخائلى, خشية أن يتبدد ما تبقى, وعندما بقيت مدة مهدهدا, منهكا, مدمدما بالوجد, متخففا من شغاف الوهم, لقيت الحمل ثقيلا وإن لم ير, والطوق محكما وإن لم يلتف, لذا أقدمت على التدوين إليك مع أنك قصى, بعيد عنى, لكن يشفع لى عمرا انقضى قرب بيننا, جعلك كأنى, حتى لو عسرت المودة, وانفرط العقد, وتباعد الشمل, وندرت اللقيا, بقيت أنت كالجهة التى لا تدرك بالحواس وإنما يتوجه المرء إليها, هكذا وليت بهمى صوبك, لعلى باسترجاع ما تبدد, وروايتى لما يخيل إلي أنه جرى, أقف على توكيد يطمئننى, يرسخ الحجة عندى, فاحتملنى يا أخى وإن أطلت, ولا تذرنى إن أثقلت, ولا تنصرف إن فصلت, وبحق العشرة القديمة, تلمس لى العذر فى شدة تهيامى.
