"حديث مع الكوكب" سياحة فكرية ممتعة يدخل فيها توفيق الحكيم في مناقشات مفترضة مع كوكبنا الأرضي ليس المقصود بها إقرار حقائق جديدة أو الكشف عم حقائق مجهولة؛ انما هي –بحسب الكاتب- مناقشات فيما يبدو لنا انه من البديهيات. فليس هناك في واقع المر بديهية إلا وفي داخلها عوالم تحتاج إلى غرص وبحث والغرض الحقيقي من هذا الكتاب هو إذن تحريك الفكر، (...) والدعوة إلى التفكير والتحليل لكل شيء(...)".
في بداية الكتاب يعقد الكاتب مقارنة بين الإنسان والبرغوث فمن وجهة نظر الكوكب أن الإنسان أضعف من البرغوث قدرة، فهو بالنسبة إلى حجم الإنسان يستطيع القفز قفزة تعادل قفزته من الرض إلى سطح عمارة من عشرين طابقاً وهو ما لا يستطيعه الإنسان؛ إلا أن المناقشة تمتد حيث يقول الكاتب "أن الإنسان في الحقيقة لا يقفز بجسمه وإنما يقفز بفكره..." يناقش الكاتب أيضاً مع الكوكب مسألة العلم والدين والفن حيث يرى الكوكب أنها كلها منتجات الفكر عندما بدأ يتحرك ويكتشف –وفي هذا المجال- يعود الكاتب إلى وضع الإنسان الأول ويستعرض تطوره الجسدي والفكري على مراحل مختلفة حتى وصوله إلى مراحل متقدمة. ايضاً يناقش الكاتب مع الكوكب مفهوم كلمة الحقيقة ومسألة "الكذب والحقيقة" فبرأيه أن "البعد عن الحقيقة هو الكذب "ويبحر الكاتب أكثر في مناقشاته مع كوكب الأرض لمحاولة فهم مفاهيم أخرى بطريقة مشوقة تحرك الفكر.. باختصار أنه كتاب اكثر من مفيد...
