«صورة إيه، صورة مين؟ صورة حاجات سهلة قوي تتخيلها صعب قوي تلقاها وتلمسها، صورة معاني عايشين طول عمركم تتكلموا عنها كأنها موجودة؛ زي العدالة كأنها ممكنة، زي السعادة كأنها حقيقية، زي الحق كأنه باين. صورة بكرة اللي بتستنوه كأنه تمام غير النهارده، وييجي بكرة زي النهارده تقولوا بكرة.»
ليس معنى أنك ترى شيئًا أنه موجود. قد تكونُ أنت الوحيدَ الذي تراه، أو قد لا يكونُ له وجودٌ من الأساسِ وأنه محضُ خيال، وقد نعتنقُ أفكارًا ونُجابِهُ العالَمَ بها، وفي لحظةٍ تنهارُ هذه الأفكارُ وتجِدُ منَّا أقوى ممانعةٍ وتَصدٍّ؛ فلا شيءَ ثابتٌ، ولا حالَ تبقى كما هي. جمَعَ رائدُ القصةِ القصيرةِ «يوسف إدريس» في هذهِ المسرحيةِ غرائبَ الحياةِ وتَناقُضاتِها: امرأةٌ تتجسَّدُ في دورِ الأختِ والأمِّ والزوجةِ لثلاثةِ إخوة، وابنٌ يُحبُّ أمَّهُ إلى حدِّ هُجرانِها ومحاولةِ قتلِها، وأخٌ يُعطي إخوتَهُ الصغارَ كلَّ ما لديهِ ويأخذُ ما عزَّ عليهم بأبشعِ الطُّرق، إرثٌ غيرُ موجود، وميراثٌ ضاعَ هباءً بينَ طمعٍ وخوفٍ وخيانةٍ وحُب. هي مهزلةٌ أرضيَّةٌ حقًّا تستدعي أن يُعلِنَ الطبيبُ النفسيُّ في نهايتِها أنه مجنونٌ ويحتاجُ إلى العلاج.
