فتحي المسكيني (1961، بوسالم) هو فيلسوف ومترجم تونسي، له العديد من المؤلفات، يشغل كأستاذ تعليم عال في جامعة تونس.

حصل على دكتوراة الدولة في الفلسفة، لكن قبل دخول مجال الفلسفة كان فتحي المسكيني شاعرًا، والذي كتبه منذ وقت مبكّر جدّا، في الثالثة عشرة من عمره. ولا زال يكتب الشعر بشكل مستمر، وإن كان لا يهتمّ بالنشر كثيرا. وجد في هيدغر استجابة إلى تطلّعاته، وتجربة الشعر وضعته في ورشة جبران بشكل مبكّر، فدخل ورشة نيتشه دون أن يدري، حسب تعبيره. فقرأ كتاب هكذا تكلم زرادشت وكتاب النبي في نفس الوقت، في الخامسة عشرة من العمر. وهذه أحداث خاصة وضعته على الطريق نحو هيدغر بشكل لم يستطع مقاومته. ويبرر سبب اهتمامه بالفكر الألماني:

إنّ العنوان الأكثر لوجودنا المعاصر هو التحرّر، وبالتحديد التحرّر الهووي ؛ ولكن ماذا حقّقنا منه ؟ أليست الهوية نفسها جهازا من أجهزة الحداثة بل من أجهزة الدولة ؟
إنّ أعمق سوء فهم أقمناه دون أنفسنا هو اعتقادنا في أصالة الموقف الهووي كتعبير وحيد عن ذواتنا، والحال أنّ الحداثة، وليس الأديان، هي التي اخترعت فكرة الهوية، ومن ثمّ فإنّ كلّ من يقاوم الحداثة على أساس هووي هو يتصرّف في أفقها دون أيّ قدرة على الإفلات من منطقها.
في كلّ ركن من أنفسنا الحالية، تبرز الهوية كواقعة ثقافية لا سند لها سوى إرادة الهوية. لكنّ إرادة الهوية وحدها لا تكفي لتحرير الإنسان من تصوّراته السقيمة عن نفسه. بل إنّ الإجابة الهووية عن السؤال "من نحن؟" قد انقلبت إلى عائق أخلاقي أمام التجربة الحرة لأنفسنا. إنّ تحرير الإنسان عندنا لم يبدأ بعدُ. هل الحل هو ثقافة الحوار ؟ ولكن إلى أيّ مدى يمكن الدفاع عن حوار بين الهويات ؟ - إنّ حوار الهويات غير ممكن، وذلك أنّ الأفق الوحيد للحوار هو الحوار بين الذوات الحرة…تلك بعض أفكار هذا الكتاب.
