يرى مؤلّف هذا الكتاب أن مجتمع الإنسان المبني على قانون الجينات الأناني، من الممكن أن يكون منفراً ومزعجاً العيش فيه. ولسوء الحظّ، لن يؤدّي استنكارنا ذلك كلّه إلى تعديله. فلنحاول تعليم الكرم والغيْرية لأننا ولدنا أنانيين. ولنحاول أيضاً أن نفهم مخطّطات جيناتنا الأنانية، كي نستطيع إفساد خططها.
قد يكون هذا الكتاب ممتعاً، ولكن إنْ وددت أن تخرج بعبرة منه، فاقرأه كما لو أنه إنذار.
