جورج رايموند ريتشارد مارتن (بالإنجليزية: George Raymond Richard Martin) هو روائي وكاتب قصص قصيرة من نوع الخيال العلمي والرعب والفنتازيا، وكاتب سيناريو ومنتج تلفزيوني، معروف لسلسلة روايات أغنية الجليد والنار التي حقّقت أفضل مبيعات حول العالم وقامت قناة HBO باقتباسها في مسلسلها الدرامي صراع العروش. كما يُعتبر مارتن منتجاً مُشاركاً للمسلسل ويكتب حلقةً من كلّ موسم عدا الموسم الخامس القادم الذي أعلن فيه مارتن عن عدم قيامه بكتابةِ أي حلقةٍ للتفرغ لإكمال الكتاب السادس من السلسلة الذي يحمل عنوان رياح الشمال. وقد وصفت مجلة التايم أن جورج هو تولكين الأمريكي. وقد وضعته المجلة في قائمتها في 2011 كأكثر الأشخاص نفوذاً وتأثيراً في العالم.

نالَت الرواية شُهرةً واسعة، وتُرجِمت للكثير من اللغاتٍ حول العالم، ولكنّها لم تُترجَم للعربيّة بعد؛ ومن المُقرّر أن يُترجِمها هشام فهمي لصالِح دار التنوير. وقد حازَت على المرتبة الأولى في قائمة نيويورك تايمز لأكثر الكتب مبيعاً. وبعدَ عدّة أسابيع حازَت المرتبة الأولى أيضاً في قوائم USA Today وقائمة بابليشرز ويكلي. وقد بُني الموسم الخامِس من مُسلسل صراع العروش على الرواية جنباً إلى جنب مع رواية وليمة للغربان.
