Book Description
يشكّل هذا الكتاب أول ترجمة عربية كاملة ومحقّقة لتقرير الراهب الفرنسيسكاني س. دي بريديا، الذي دوّنه سنة 645هـ / 1247م، ويُعد من أقدم النصوص اللاتينية التي وثّقت أخبار المغول خلال القرن السابع الهجري / الثالث عشر الميلادي. يحتفظ هذا التقرير، المعروف باللاتينية باسم Historia Tartarorum، بقيمة تاريخية استثنائية لندرة المصادر الأوروبية الأصلية التي رصدت المغول من منظور معاصر ومباشر.
أُنجزت هذه الترجمة من النص المحقّق الذي أعدّه جورج باينتر ضمن عمله الكلاسيكي The Vinland Map and the Tartar Relation. وقد ذُيلت بتقرير راهب آخر هو بنديكت البولندي، مما يجعل هذا العمل مرجعًا مركبًا فريدًا يعكس تمثّلات الغرب اللاتيني للمغول إبّان صعودهم.
يتميّز هذا الإصدار بمنهج تحريري دقيق، يعيد صياغة النص بروح الأدب الإسلامي الوسيط، ويصحّح أسماء الأماكن والشخصيات وفق المصادر التاريخية المثبتة.
الكتاب مخصّص للباحثين في تاريخ المغول، وللمهتمين بالاستشراق المبكر، ويُعد إسهامًا علميًّا في سد ثغرة عميقة في المكتبة العربية، عبر تقديم شهادة أوروبية نادرة عن أحد أعظم التحوّلات الجيوسياسية في العصور الوسطى.
