«افتراق الأقدار» هي النسخة العربية من رواية «The Fates Divide» للروائية الأميركية فيرونيكا روث. تُرجمت الرواية إلى 30 لغة عالمية. ونقلتها إلى العربية هيلدا عساف. صادرة عن الدار العربية للعلوم ناشرون في بيروت 2019.
بعد روايتها «أحفر العلامة» تتابع الروائية الأميركية فيرونيكا روث مصائر أبطال روايتها الخارقين "نوفاك ولازمت ورايزك وأكوس وسايرا وسيسي وأوري" في روايتها الجديدة «افتراق الأقدار». فبعد موت أوري على يديّ "حافر العلامات" على ساعديه والتي تروي قصص قتلاه في شوتيت ما تزال الرغبة بالثأر لمقتل أوري تعتمر في صدر أختها مستشارة مدن ثوفي إيساي بينيسيت؛ المرأة القوية التي تسعى وراء انتقام خاص من القاتل وعام من أمة الشوتيت.
عبر هذا الفضاء الروائي العبثي، الغرائبي الذي ترسمه الروائية فيرونيكا روث في روايتها سنتعرف إلى طبيعة هذا الانتقام ومداه، والمحرضين عليه، ودوافعهم، والنتائج المترتبة عليه. فما هو الدور الذي سيضطلع به رئيس مجلس الكواكب؟ وهل سيشجع على السلم أم على الحرب؟ وفي حال اندلاع الحرب هل يستطيع الثوفيون محاربة جيش الشوتيت المرعب؟ وما هي الأسلحة التي سيستعينون بها لتحقيق النصر؟ ومن سيزودهم بها؟ ولكن هل سيكون لظهور طاغية شوتيت لازمت بعد أن تبين أنه لم يمت دور في تسعير الحرب؟ ثم ما هو السر الذي ستكشفه فارا، وسيغير مجرى الأمور؟ وهل سيكون سبباً للافتراق أم للاتحاد؟
وفي النهاية يبقى السؤال لماذا لم تفتح دماء سايرا الأقفال الجينية العائدة لآل نوفاك؟ وهل سيكون لهذه الدماء دور في إحلال السلام وحقن الدماء؟
تقدم إلينا فيرونيكا روث في رواية "افتراق الأقدار" تعريفاً جديداً وغير مسبوق للصراع الأزلي بين الخير والشر، وتقارب بطريقة جديدة مفهوم الحب والحنان الأمومي، ومعنى التضحية في الحب، وفكرة الولاء للمبدأ والانتماء.
إنها رواية أخرى جديدة رائعة من إبداع فيرونيكا روث، تجسد الخيال من خلال مشاعر إنسانية نبيلة، حتى وإن جاءت عبر أصوات كائنات فضائية غامضة وغرائبية.
