يقدم عرض تاريخى للمنسوجات وزخارفها المستعملة فى (الألبسة بشكل خاص) فى مصر خاصة على مر عصورها المختلفة ومراكز إنتاجها منذ العصر الفرعونى مرورا بالعصر اليونانى والرومانى فالقبطى والعصور الإسلامية (أموى وعباسى وطولونى وفاطمى وأيوبى ومملوكى إلى العصر العثمانى) ثم عصر محمد على وخلفائه وفقا لآراء أعلام الباحثين الآثاريين المصريين والمؤرخين القدامى مع عدد كبير جدا من اللوحات فى كل عصر – كما يعرض لتجارة المنسوجات فى عصورها المختلفة. كما يقدم رؤية حديثة لزخارفها التاريخية الثرية فى منتجات عصرية باستخدام تكنولوجيا الحاسب الآلى. الكتاب مهم جدا للدارسين لمقررات تاريخ المنسوجات وزخرفتها بالطرق المختلفة فى الكليات ذات الصلة.
