ينشأ فَرْع ذات البطنين للعصب الوجهيّ بالقرب من الثُّقْبَة الإِبْرِيَّة الخُشَّائِيَّة، ويتفرّع إلى عدّة خُيوط تُعَصِّب البطن الخلفيّ للعضلة ذات البطنين؛ ينضمّ واحد من هذه الخُيوط إلى العصب البلعوميّ اللّسانيّ.
