اختفت وديدة زوجة عبده الجزار واختفى معها في ذات الوقت جمال رشوان العامل بمحل الجزارة الذي يملكه زوجها وقد ربط سكان شارع الكامل بين اختفاء الاثنين قائلين أن هناك علاقة بينهما أدت لهذا الاختفاء.
أحد جيران الجزار ويدعي محمود عبد الدايم قابل جمال رشوان الذي أكد له عدم وجود علاقة له باختفاء وديدة، وبدأ البحث عن سبب اختفائها فقيل أن أحد سكان الشارع ويدعى شريف سلامة وراء اختفائها وقيل أن عبده الجزار زوجها وراء اختفائها، وبالبحث والتحري من جهة المسئولين بالشرطة عرف السبب وكانت المفاجأةالتي لم يتوقعهاأحد في نهاية الرواية.
