في هذا العمل، يقدو الروائي "أحمد الدويحي" تصوراً لفكرة وحدة الوجود، حيث يختلط الخيال بالواقع على بوابة "روحي الآخرة" فيكون حديث وتكون أحلام وتتجلى الذات الباحثة في تفاصيل التفاصيل، وفي الطريق إلى الأخرة يأذخنا الراوي إلى سنين طفولة ذهبت وأرواح غذت في دروب الحياة عبر بوصلة الجهات المختلفة، حيث يحفر المقدس في صورة دموع حجيج عبر بطحاء مكة إلى صعيد عرفات، فتسل دموع وتلهج بالدعاء، قلوب ترنو إلى الإله الواحد. وفي وحي الآخرة سنشهد مع الراوي وجع أمة تتناثر في جهاتها الموجوعة، يقترب بها من مجتمع تعصف به تناقضات تتوارى خلف أقنعة يتستر بها لدرء قبحه. كل ذلك يحدث عبر نسيج الرواية في سردها ورسم شخوصها في تقنية غير نمطية، حيث ثنائية الواقع والمتخيل، الحضور والغياب، والدنيا والآخرة. فإذا ما قرأنا وهي الاخرة سوف نعرف أن "الدويحي" يستدعي عبر السرد شخصيات ووقائع تتحول إلى أقنعة يتوارى خلفها الإنسان المسكون بالتعب، والمشحون بعاطفة يتقاطع فيها الحسي بالمعنوي، والمجازي بالحقيقي، والوجع بالإرتياح، ليعرض لنا الروائي شرائح مجتمعية طاولها الفرح مطاولة الترح، وسكنتها الأسئلة قبل أن تشغلها الإجابات. تكمن براعة "الدويجي" وأسلوبه الفني في خلق أزمنة وفضاءات تعود بنا إلى ما قبل التاريخ، فيتسلل إلينا برفق ونحن نقرأ معه غواية الحضارة، التي لا نكتشف عظمة صانعيها إلا بعد أن تسكنهم القبور، ليمرر أصواتاً عدة من دون أن يربك الحدث بما يوحي الآخرة حيلة روائية تهدف إلى إقامة حائط ممانع في وجه فكرة الغناء. "وحي الآخرة" هي أكثر من رواية، هي تراجيديا موغلة في الحزن، مزجت بين المباشرة والتجريد، وتقاطعت مع أجمل نصوص الشعر العربي الحديث. عبر تجلية واقع نفعي يمتد من الماضي إلى الحاضر، استطال من القرية إلى المدينة، وتجاوز الأمي إلى المثقف، وهو يؤصل لانهزامية الوعي في ظل سد منافذ التشكل في الحياة لينشد الخلاص في الموت.
