"كان الرذاذ خفيفاً وطبقة هشة من الغيوم تجلب بعضاً من وهج الشمس، فكانت تقود سيارتها على مهل متغافلة عن السيارات التي تتجاوزها وأن تذعر بعضهم فيما أثار فيها فضول لرد أو تعليق. هي في طريقها لمقهى عام في المدينة، تصل لسامعها ثرثرات المذيعة ولكنها لا تضفي، تحركات المسّاحات البطيئة على زجاج السيارة تذكرها بملالة حياتها ورتابتها على مدى عمرها حتى هذه اللحظة. اليوم ستعيد عقارب الساعة إلى الوراء ستخرج من هذه الملالة وهذا الضجر. اليوم ستستعيد حقاً تخلت عنه مختارة منذ عشر سنوات، ستنطلق كمثل ما كان يليق بها أن تفعل أيام المراهقة الأولى".
