نيكوتين" رواية عن الحب، تحكي قصص العاشقين، ذكريات جميلة، وأحلاماً لم تتحقق. لحظات تحتضن القلوب ويفرقها القدر.. في هذا العمل اعتراف مؤثر وعميق لحالة إنسانية عنوانها الحب والذي بدأ باكراً مع طفلين أحمد ونجلاء وصولاً الى مرحلة الشباب والجامعة الى أن يلعب الزمن لعبته.. بين مشهد الطفولة في بداية الرواية، ومشهد المرض في نهايتها، يشكل الموت الجزء الناقص من الحياة الذي ننتظره، ويتخذ أشكالاً شتى. عندما يكبر الاثنان يواجهان تحديات مجتمعية كثيرة من بينها خطبة نجلاء الى رجل آخر رضوخاً منها لتقاليد أسرتها، عندئذ يشعر أحمد والذي يكون في هذه الأثناء في الخارج يتابع دراسة الطب أن حياته وضعت على المحك، أي أنه سيعيش وحيداً، وعندما يقرر العودة الى بلاده يفاجأ بمحبوبته والمرض ينهش بجسدها عندما يخبره الأطباء أنها أصيبت بداء السرطان والذي أودى بحياتها الى الموت. بين صورة الحب وصورة الموت يرسم الراوي لوحة يجمع فيها كل الألوان الزاهية والقاتمة معاً، محطات، وذكريات، وأحلاماً مسروقة يقول لنا القدر فيها ان الموت، أو كلمة الى الأبد في حياة كل إنسان فجأة هي تاريخ انتهاء للصلاحية لا بد من الرضوخ له. عندئذ لا يبقى لأحمد سوى الذكريات يناجي بها محبوبته حيث يدمن على زيارة قبرها "... تظلين المرأة التي حينما احتضنها بشدة وأغمض عيني، أتذكر عبق الماضي الجميل على صدرك.. وأشم رائحة الأمان من أطراف شعرك (...) إعلمي أن وقوفي على قبرك ليس بدافع الحب فقط.. ولكن لأني حينما كنت صغيراً كنت أستمع الى فتاة تشرح لي كم هو موحش أن ترقد بصمت لسنوات طويلة (...) أحياناً أسأل نفسي، ماذا لو كنت أستطيع أن أقرأ تعريفاً مكتوباً على جبين كل إنسان "اعشقني قدر ما تستطيع قبل أن تفقدني".
