من العنوان "قر ين" ندرك ثقل الإحساس بالزمن الذي ينسحب على نصوص الشاعر عبد الله محمد العبيد؛ وهو إحساس ناجم عن الفراق، ومرارة الإنتظار "تفقد الأشياء قدسيتها إن أتت بعد طول انتظار" وقد لا يعلم معنى الإنتظار إلا من جربه "إنه معول غير عادل.. يأخذ منا بريق الأشياء، ويعيدها شعراتٍ بيضاء../ تتوزع على تقاسيمنا كما شاءت، وليس لنا في اختيار مكانها نصيب../ الإنتظار يا ولدي، لا يتحدث بلغتنا.. إنه لا يتحدث إطلاقاً...". هكذا تبدو الذات الشاعرة وهي تحكي قصة عيشها تجربة مريرة، نجح الشاعر في تغليفها بعنصري الإستذكار والتخييل، وتبني معانيها عبر تبادل الموقع السياقي واسناد الصفات والضمائر بالتقديم والتأخر، وبتنظيم المعاني وفقاً لحمولتها الدلالية التي كثيراً ما تتنازع فيها الصور الشعرية مع وظائفها في الأداء الشعري بقول الشاعر: "... أجمل أيامي معك، كانت في فترة انتظارك../ لم أشعر بالورد الذابل أو بالشيب ولا بالحاضر../ فقط أصواتنا وقد تجانست عند حديقة تربيت بجانبها../ وحلمتُ أن تنشأ بجوارها انت أيضاً.. وأروي لك شيئاً عن صغري../ وأنك ستعيش لكي لا تشبهني كثيراً...". هكذا يناجي الشاعر عبد الله محمد العبيد في (قرين) طفلاً انتظره ولم توهب له الحياة...
