السياسة جعلت الناس، في جميع الأزمان، مجانين أو متوحّشين أو خطرين، وبكلمة واحدة, فاقدي العقل. هذا ما يقوله الرأي الشائع. والحقّ أنّ لكلّ انحراف عقليّ سببه، ولا شيء يتمّ بلا علّة. ها ما يقوله الحسّ السليم.
ومن هنا السؤال المحرج: لماذا ينبغي أن نزيغ عقول الناس بمجرّد أن يعيشوا في مجتمع؟ الجواب هنا يتّخذ شكل صعود نحو وضع إمكان الهذيان الجماعي وهو يبدأ بفحص خطابات الهذيان (وهي اليوم إيديولوجيّة) وينتهي بفحص البنية المنطقيّة لجماعة مستقرّة. وينتج من ذلك أنّ "عدم اكتمال" أيّة مجموعة مغلقة يحدّد الاستعمار الممكن لقابليّة البشر للتصرّف والانتظام جماعيًّا. وهو ضغط ملزم يطلق عليه التقليد النقدي صفة "نظام".
يقول ريجيس دوبريه "طويلاً ما أخفت السياسة عن السياسي". إنّها تخفيه، ليس بمعنى ما يخفي القطار قطار آخر, بل بمعنى أنّ أيّ قطار يخفي السكك التي يجري عليها. هناك مسافات كثيرة, وشرعات كثيرة، ولكن هنا سكّة حديد واحدة، أو سكّة صليب.
وهذا النقد للعقل السياسي، إذ يثبت على نحو مادّي دقيق الطبيعة الدينيّة للوجود الجماعي، يكشف، في تطبيق التنظيم، ثوابت يشكّل مجموعها "اللاشعور السياسي" للإنسانيّة، أو بكلمة أفضل: حضورها الأبدي. ويقول المؤلّف: "أنا لا أواجه خطر أن أناقض، بل خطر ألاّ أُفهم".
