عندما كنت طالبة في كلية الطب، كنت أسمع وأقرأ عن فضائح الخنزير التي لا تنتهي، فاضطررت لمسايرة هذا التيار العارم الذي ينادي بوبائية الخنزير حتى لا أتهم بالتواطؤ مع هذا الحيوان النجس، أما في قرارة نفسي أعرف أن كثيرا من الأمراض التي تنتقل عن طريق لحم الخنزير - كالدودة الشريطية - من الممكن أيضا أن تنتقل عن طريق البقر والسمك، بل ما هو أكثر من ذلك، وجدت أن هذا الحيوان قد أنقذ حياة كثير من مرضى السكري بادة الأنسولين، ومرضى القلب بالصمامات، ومرض هشاشة العظام بمنظمات الكالسيوم، ومرضى الدم بمضادات التخثر. المرضى، فقد أمد دفعني الفضول إلى دراسة المقدس لمعرفة حقيقة قدسيته، فوضعت قريبة من خمسة عشر دواء من أدوية الطب النبوي کالعسل وحبة البركة والحجامة والأثمد وأبوال الإبل وغيرها تحت مجهر البحث التاريخي والعلمي، ثم تعرضت لتحليل مفاهیم شائعة لها علاقة وطيدة بالطب الحديث: كعلاج الأمراض العضوية بالقرآن، وحقيقة فوائد الكحول، وأضرار العادة السرية، وخواص ماء زمزم، ومكانة جناح الذبابة وتأثير الأحجار الكريمة، وعلاقة الاكتئاب بالدين وغيرها.
