يتضمن هذا الكتاب وصفًا لنظم التصوير الطبي المعروفة بعبارات مألوفة لدى المهندسين الكهربائيين تتضمن الاستجابة النبضية وتوابع التحويل ونسبة الإشارة إلى الضجيج، وبهذه الطريقة جرى شرح الأنظمة المعقدة نسبيًا بعبارات مفهومة, قد شرحت نظرية الحيود في الفصلين التاسع والعاشر في مجال التصوير بالموجات فوق الصوتية واشتقت مصطلحات الحيود الرياضية من مبادئ أساسية دون افتراض معرفة سابقة لدى القارئ عن الموضوع، وقد عرضت نظريات الفيزياء بما يكفي لكل نوع من أنواع التصوير، واستعملت الرياضيات بدرجة رئيسية لحسابات التكامل التي هيمنت على نظرية النظام الخطي. ويحتوي الكتاب على مسائل محلولة تساعد على فهم الموضوع. هذا الكتاب ذا أهمية كبيرة في المجالات التعليمية و التطبيقية و بخاصة بعد أن تم إحداث هذا الاختصاص في بعض الجامعات العربية. إن أجهزة التصوير الطبي مثل جهاز التصوير المقطعي المحوسب و جهاز التصوير بالصدى النبضي و جهاز التصوير بالرنين المغناطيسي, أصبحت متوفرة في كثير من المشافي في الدول العربية. و تبرز أهمية الكتاب في شمولية الموضوعات المطروحة و دقة الصياغة الرياضية و فوائد التقانات التي تخدم حياة الانسان. و في الكتاب محاولة لوصف جميع نظم التصوير الطبية الموجودة بعبارات مألوفة للمهندسين الكهربائيين. و تتضمن الاستجابة النبضية و توابع التحويل و نسبة الاشارة الى الضجيج و شرح الأنظمة المعقدة نسبياً بعبارات مفهومة و أصبحت معظم التصاميم المتداولة أوضح. و يتوجه الكتاب الى كل المهتمين بالتصوير الطبي من علماء و مهندسين و طلاب و أطباء.
