فاتحا ثم رئيسا لمالية البصرة ، ثم حاكما للمغرب ، ثم قائدا فاتحا اندفع بكل ماوهب
الله له من قدرة وحماس ، فعبر البحر وغزا الأندلس وقضى على أعظم قوة حربية أوربية
في ذلك الحين ،ولولا ذلك ماثبت الأمر للمسلمين ولفقد المغرب عروبته التي جاهد في
سبيلها من سبقه من قواد العرب أكثر من نصف قرن من الزمان
تم ذلك
كله على يد موسى بن النصير ، ولكن سيرته مرتبطة ارتباطا وثيقا بالحياة التي ولد في
ظلها وبالأحداث التي تربى في كنفها ، فكان لابد قبل أن نلتقي به أن نقف على أخبار
تلك الأحداث التي سبقت مولده بحوالي عشر سنوات ، لأن الحديث عنها سيقودنا في
النهاية إلى لقائه والسير معه إلى آخر مطاف
