منذ بدأت جماعة الإخوان هام 1928 حتى مصرع الشيخ حسن البنا عام 1949 واجه 12 رئيساً للوزارة هم مصطفى النحاس، ومحمد محمود، وعدلي يكن، وإسماعيل صدقي، وعبد الفتاح يحيى، وتوفيق نسيم، وعلي ماهر، وحسن صبري، وحسين سري، وأحمد ماهر، ومحمود فهمي النقراشي، وإبراهيم عبد الهادي، وكانت له مع بعض هؤلاء تحالفات وصدامات فرضتها طبيعة العمل السياسي.
وواجه الشيخ البنا أربعة من المندوبين السامين والسفراء البريطانيين وهم اللورد جورج لويد والسير بيرسي لورين واللورد كيلرن والسير رونالد كامبل، ولم يعرف الإخوان، أو شعب مصر، ماذا جرى بشأنهم أو ماذا كان يقال عنهم بين رؤساء وزارات مصر وسفراء بريطانيا والولايات المتحدة في مصر، أو بين هؤلاء جميعاً وصاحب الجلالة ملك مصر، وهذا الكتاب يقدم ذلك كله بوئائق تذاع لأول مرة عن الجماعة، وعن المرشد العام الذي توقف أتباعه عن مقارنته بالأئمة الآخرين، واكتفوا بأن اطلقوا عليه لقب "الإمام".
