يتحدث فيها الكاتب عن تجربة شاب كويتي عاش تجربة احتلال بلاده الكويت من قبل الجيش العراقي في 2 أغسطس 1990، يسرد فيها ما تعرض له الشاب في العراق عندما كان هناك قبل حدوث الاحتلال بأيام، ثم عودته إلى بلاده، وما جرى له منذ اليوم الأول للاحتلال، ثم خروجه إلى السعودية في نهاية شهر نوفمبر، وما كابده من معاناة طوال تلك الفترة بعيدا عن وطنه وأهله، إلى ما بعد تحرير الكويت في فبراير 1991 وعودته من المنفى. الرواية تتضمن سردا تاريخيا لتفاصيل الحياة اليومية في العراق قبل الحدث، وكذلك للحياة اليومية في بلاده الكويت تحت الاحتلال العراقي وبعد التحرير، ولمعاناة الشاب الشخصية في المنفى وبعد عودته. كما تتضمن حديثا عن الحروب وآثارها على البشر، بما تخلفه من جروح وندوب لا تشفى، وبما تخلفه من دمار وحطام يطال الإنسان والحجر. وفيها أيضا الكثير من الاشارات والاقتباسات من أدباء وشعراء ممن كتبوا في أدب الحروب.
