عن الموضوعات التي تناولها الكتاب وجدت معلومات كثيرة مبعثرة متناقضة، اختلطت فيها الحقيقة بالأسطورة، فكان همي الجمع والتنسيق والنقد والتعليق. وبما أن أكثر مصادر هذه المعلومات مترجم، وأكثر المترجمات ليس مباشرًا، ولا يقدم المعلومات كاملة، ولا يحسن تنسيقها- فقد وجبت المقارنة بين المترجمات وصولًا إلى الحقيقة، أو إلى ما يطمأن إليه، إلى حد ما، مع العناية بالنقد، أو الحوار مع ما تقدمه هذه المصادر من نصوص.
وقد توخيت في هذه الدراسة أن أدل على أن التعرف إلى الله قد يكون بمعرفة صفات الكمال، كما يكون بسلب صفات النقض، لكن الفلاسفة قد فضلوا سلب صفات النقض، بحجة أن صفات الكمال نسبية، وكذلك الشأن مع الأديان، فلأن تضع صورة الدين في المرآة فإنك لا تضيف جديدًا، فما أكثر من يفعلون ذلك، إنما الأكثر تأثيرًا وإقناعًا هو مقارنة دين بآخر، أو هو عرض السلبيات لإظهار الإيجابيات. وهذا ما قصدت إليه في الحديث عن معتقدات غير سماوية تعيش في ساحة انتشار ديانات سماوية.
