زندگینامه «معاویه بن ابی سفیان» صحابی پیامبر اكرم را بیان كرده و به شبهات و سئوالات درباره شخصیت و اقدامات وی پاسخ میدهد. نویسنده در آغاز به توصیف مفهوم صحابی و شأن یاران گرانقدر پیامبر میپردازد و در ادامه، درباره خاندان و نسب معاویه و نحوه تشرفش به اسلام سخن میگوید. او در فصلهای آتی دیدگاه حضرت رسول -صلی الله علیه وسلم- و صحابه و تابعین را در قبال وی و عملكردش نقل میكند، و سپس گوشههایی از مناقب اخلاقی و ویژگیهای شخصیتی او را ذكر مینماید. تحلیل وقایع منجر به جنگ صفین و وضعیت جامعه اسلامی در دوران خلافتِ او موضوع بخش بعدی كتاب است. وی در ادامه، خدمات معاویه را در دوره زمامداریش شرح میدهد و در پایان، نظرات علمای دینی را درباره شخصیت او نقل میكند.
