وصف رواية مدرسة الحرية تأليف (شيشي بونروكو) :
تعتبر هذه الرواية الأكثر مبيعاً في الخمسينيات من القرن الماضي، وقد أختيرت ضمن البرنامج الياباني للنشر والدعاية الأدبية، لأنها تمثل أحد نماذج الهزل الراقي في الأدب الياباني الحديث. لقد عمد الكاتب إلى أن يعرف قراء هذه الرواية بجميع طبقات المجتمع الياباني وما يجري في شوارع طوكيو سراً وعلانية، لاسيما بعد هزيمة اليابان في الحرب العالمية الثانية واستسلامها. لقد بنى الكاتب روايته حول فكرة رئيسية هي الحرية. فكما أرادت قوات الاحتلال تحقيق الحرية والمساواة لجميع اليابانيين من خلال دستور جديد صدر 1947، أراد بطل الرواية، من خلال تركه منزله، أن يحرر نفسه من قيود تسلط الزوجة والعمل والنقود ساعياً وراء الحرية، وكذلك فعلت زوجته كوماكو أثناء غيابه عن المنزل .
