منذ أن تمّ تعريفه، في السياق النظريّ لنهاية السّتّينيّات من قبل جوليا كريستيفا Julia Kristeva، فرض التّناصّ نفسه في الحقل النّقدي كمفهوم مهيمن.
كان موضوع تنظيرات متعدّدة وأحياناً متناقضة، أصبحت شيئاً فشيئاً معبراً إضطرارياً لكلّ تصوير دقيق للحقل، وكأنّنا اكتشفنا فجأة بأنّ أيّ نصّ، مهما كان، هو مخترق بنصوص أخرى. غير أنّ ثراء مثل هذا في المفهوم، نظر إليه في البداية كلفظ حوشيّ جديد إلى حدّ ما، لم يأخذ طريقه بدون أن يتعرّض لتحريف في دلالته الأولى: يكفي لإستنتاج ذلك أن نتصفّح هذه الطّبعة أو تلك من نصّ كلاسيكيّ: فالتّناصّ على الدّوام ما هو سوى التّسمية "المعاصرة" المعطاة لنقد المصادر القديم، غير أنّ هدفه لم يكن تعويض هذا الأخير بل إقتراح صيغة جديدة للقراءة والتّأويل.
إنّ تعميم مفهوم التّناصّ جرّ فعلاً توسعاً ملحوظاً في حدوده، وبالتّالي، فقدا لمعناه، فليست تعريفات التّناصّ وحدها متغيِّرة، لكنّ حدود المتناصّ غير مستقرّة، أين تبدأ وأين تتوقّف؟ هل نعتبر مجرّد الحضور الموضعيّ لنصّ في نصّ آخر كظاهرة تناصّ، حيث يكون الإستشهاد هو الشّكل الشّعاري لها؟ لكن ماذا تعني الموضوعيّة، لمّا تكون الذّاكرة، الثقافة، أي التّجذّر في تاريخ معطى، في رهان؟ لنطرح حينذاك الفرضيّة المعاكسة: هل يمكن قبول أن يكون هناك تناصّ ما أن يلاحظ أيّ تشابه بين عدّة نصوص.
