تحكي الرواية عن رامي الموظف بإحدى المدارس الحكومية ويتقابل مع شريف الذي بدوره يعرفه على فتاه جامعية تدعى سامية ويكون هو على علاقة بها ويقع رامي في حبها ويبذل كل جهده للوصول إليها بعد أن رآها مرة واحدة فقط وأحبها لدرجة الجنون، حتى أنه يلقب بـمجنون سامية وتحدث جريمة قتل للسيدة مها عبدالسلام فيتهم فيها رامي ويدخل السجن ويتم الحكم عليه بالإعدام فيهرب من السجن محاولا إثبات براءته والانتقام من المتسبب في سجنه وتتوالى الأحداث..
