يستعرض الفصل الأول من هذا الكتاب من هذا الكتاب قضية التراث الثقافي لسنوات 1970 التي ارتفعت أصوات التنديد بها في يومنا الحالي. في الثاني معالجة للإستخدامات المتباينة, على طرفي الأطلسي, لفكرة الاختلاف (الجنسي, الاثني, الثقافي, الخ) في الثالث تطرق إلى مشكلة تحولات الاسرة الغربية من ثم ينتقل الفصل الرابع إلى اعمال التفكير حول الحرية الانسانية, ليتساءل الفصل الخامس حول حقوق الحيوانات والواجبات المترتبة على الانسان حيالها. وفي القسم السادس طرح الأسئلة على روح وفكر "الثورة" بعد سقوط الشيوعية. أما الفصلان الأخيران لهما الحكم بالاعدام وضرورة إلغائه, والثاني للأشكال الحديثة لمعاداة السامية, حاضراً ومستقبلاً ويأتي مسك ختام هذا الكتاب ليكون تمجيداً للتحليل النفسي.
