يتمحور موضوع الرواية حول طفل فلسطيني تم تهجيره إلى دمشق بعد أن قضت عائلته نحبها، لينشأ ويترعرع داخل مأوى أيتام في حواري دمشق، وحين يبدأ مرحلة الوعي والإدراك يبدأ بالحنين إلى إمه الذي لا يعرفها مما دفعه هذا الحنين أن يعزم على كتابة رسالة مشتركة ما بينه وبين الكاتب لتكون الرسالة بمثابة رواية مؤطرة ضمن إطار اليوميات وكلماتٍ خُطت بحبرِ السجية.
