هذا الكتاب في أصله عبارة رسالة كتبها المؤلف لأحد تلاميذه الذين التقاهم في سجون الاحتلال الصهيوني، تتضمن نصائح وتوجيهات، وقد قدم المؤلف لهذه الرسالة بمقدمات ذكر فيها (قصة هذه الرسالة) ثم عرّج على (بداية الحكاية)، وعرّف بعدها بالأسير الذي كتبت الرسالة له، وهو الأسير (أحمد بديع).
وقد شمل متن الرسالة العناوين التالية بين (المقدمة) و(الخاتمة):
