يقالون إن الفضول قتل صاحبه، ومع ذلك، نجد الكثيرين يلهثون خلف الغموض، يطاردون الأسرار المخفية كما لو أن الإجابات ستجلب لهم السلام أو السعادة الأبدية. في عالم تغمره الأسرار، يتجاهل الناس علامات التحذير، ويغامرون بدخول أماكن ينبغي تجنبها. يدفعهم الفضول إلى تخطي الحدود، متناسين أن كل دخان يخفي وراءه نارًا تحرق كل من يقترب منها دون حذر.
لكن الغموض ليس الجاذبية الوحيدة التي تجذب الناس إلى الخطيئة. ففي جانب آخر من حياتنا، نجد رجالًا ونساءً يخونون من يحبون، ويتزوجون رغم قلوبهم المشتتة. ينجبون أطفالًا يحملون ندوبًا نفسية من أفعال لم يرتكبوها، يدفعون ثمن خطايا آبائهم وأمهاتهم. ويجسد المال وجهًا آخر لهذه الدوامة من الفساد، حيث يباع الشرف والأخلاق مقابل الثروات، غير مدركين أن المال الذي حصلوا عليه بطرق غير شريفة قد يتحول إلى لعنة تلتهم صحتهم وعافيتهم، إذ يدركون متأخرين أن العلاج من المصائب يتطلب ثمنًا أكبر مما ظنوا.
قال حكيم ذات يوم إن المال الحلال لا يدوم، فما بالك بالمال الحرام الذي يأتي محملًا بلعنات تطارد حامليه حتى آخر أيامهم؟ في خضم هذه المعارك الداخلية، تتشابك القصص والأقدار في حكاية "مستشفى الأمل"، حيث يختلط الواقع بالوهم، وحيث تصبح كل خطوة محفوفة بالمخاطر.
