ربما تزداد أهمية هذا المؤلف بمضي بعض الوقت، فقد تم نشره سنة 2005 بعد أربع سنوات من أحداث 11 سبتمبر 2001 وفي اثناء ولاية جورج بوش الابن الأولى وشنه ما اطلق عليه الحرب على الارهاب وغزوه افغانستان والعراق، وأعلانه بصلافة ان كل من لايقف معنا في هذه الحرب فهو ضدنا، فهذا الكتاب يمثل لا صرخة رفض وادانة لسياية بوش وعصابته من المحافظين الجدد وحلفائهم من الاستعماريين البريطانيين العتاة وصهاينة اسرائيل فحسب ولكنه يعبر أيضاً عن وجود اتجاه شجاع داخل الولايات المتحدة نفسها يتصدى بجرأة للسياسة الإمبريالية الأمريكية الرسمية ويفضحها، وهو اتجاه بدا في ذلك الوقت ضعيفاً خافت الصوت لا يعيره الرأي العام الامريكي في جله اهتماماً يذكر ولكنه أخذ يكتسب مع مرور الوقت مزيداً من الأهمية والقوة حتى استطاع في الانتخابات الامريكية الاخيرة أن يسقط شكلياً على الأقل بوش وحزبه الجمهوري.
والترجمة العربية لهذا الكتاب بدأت أواخر عهد بوش وأوائل عهد أوباما حيث من الواضح أن أوباما لم يف بمعظم ما تعهد به أثناء الحملة الانتخابية، وبرغم اقصاء حزب بوش الجمهوري عن الحكم لا يزال للمحافظين الجدد الذين كان لهم أكبر الأثر على سياسة بوش، لا يزال لهم نفوذهم وتأثيرهم على نحو ما جاء في مقالتي المؤلف آنفتي الذكر اللتين نشرهما في ديسمبر 2008، ونلاحظ هنا أن المؤلف انهى كتابه بجملة "وتستمر لعبة الشيطان" في إشارة واضحة إلى استمرار نفس السياسة.
