يستلهم الكاتب رواية فرانز كافكا الشهيرة ليكشف عن تحولات المجتمع المغربي عبر حكاية معاصرة لشاب ينام مقهورا ويستيقظ مسخا شيطانيا، وكيف أنه تحول من معيل للأسرة إلى عالة عليها والأسرار التي انكشفت خلال ذلك. بلغة أنيقة وسرد رشيق وحكاية مشوقة يقدم لنا محمد سعيد احجيوج رواية قصيرة مكثفة غنية بأحداث متنوعة تُدخل القارئ بسلاسة في لعبة القراءة والتأويل. كما لا تخلو الرواية من مواقف مضحكة وخفة ظل غير مباشرة وسخرية مبطنة مما يقع في المجتمعات العربية الموبوءة بعجيب تناقضاتها وتضارب قيمها المكشوف منها والمستور.
