وتتناول الرواية التي تقع في 65 صفحة من القطع الصغير قصة أربعة فتيان يشكلون خلية نضالية يُعتقل اثنان منهم ، في قلعة أثرية وسط البحر ، فيما يحاول الاثنان الآخران تحريرهما من الأسر بطريقة مبتكرة من خلال صنع منطاد يطيران به ويحط بهما ليلا على سطح القلعة ،اذ تعد مغامراتهما مدروسة تعتمد على التفكير العلمي والتخطيط الواعي ، من أجل الوصول إلى نتائج متوقعة.
يهدي الروائي أبو عراق عمله هذا للشهيدين خالد اكر وميلود بن نومة اللذان هاجما معسكر غيبور الإسرائيلي في الجليل الأعلى بطائرة شراعية ليل الأربعاء عام 1987 .
وبعد أن يشرح المؤلف طبيعة المغامرة ، ويؤكد أنها ضرورية لمخيلة الفتيان لأنها صنو للشجاعة ، لذلك تستهويهم وتثير مخيلتهم ، ولاسيما أن هذه الرواية تغوص في المعاناة العقلية التي يكابدها الأبطال وهم يبحثون عن الحلول العلمية والعملية للمشكلات التي تواجههم ، وكيف يستلهمون أفكارهم من ذخيرة معرفتهم الحياتية والعلمية وكيف يفرحون بانتصارهم في النهاية فرح الحكيم وليس فرح المغرور .
