المثل: قَلَّ ودَلَّ. يا ثقيلَ الحِملِ إن تَسألْ تَنَلْ راحةً للنفسِ في قَولِ المَثَلْ «لمْ سمعنا، لمْ قَشعنا. لمْ حَكيـ ــنا بِسوءٍ»... وهوَ ما قَلَّ ودَلْ يقول سلام الراسي في هذا الكتاب إنَّ المثل هو أبلغ وسائل التعبير، لأنَّه يقلّ ويدلّ ويبقى في البال ويجري على ألسنة النَّاس في مناسباتهم. وتجري مجرى الأمثال جميع الأقوال والأشعار التي تُساق للتعبير في مثل هذه الحال.
