كتاب فوق بلاد السواد – أزهر جرجيس يتضمن هذا الكتاب ٣٤ حكاية كتبت باسلوب ساخر وبسيط ومستمده مادتها من واقع العراقيين اليوم ، فترة الثمانينيات والحرب الايرانية ، معاناة العراقيين سواء من السياسيين الحاليين او في حكم صدام ، قضايا اجتماعيه ودينية كل هذا تناوله ازهر جرجيس باسلوب ساخر يجعلك محتارا بين "البچي" و "الضحك" مع استخدامه لمفردات اللهجه العراقيه بالحوارات والمواقف الطريفه ..مجموعة قصصية ساخرة مستوحاة من الواقع العراقي بشكل عفوي وجميل .ستضحك بعد قراءة كل قصة ولكنك ستشعر ايضاً بألم ، وهذا هو المميز فيها فهي مضحكة ومبكية في آنٍ واحد .ويبدو الاسلوب مشابهاً بشكلٍ ما للكاتب التركي "عزيز نيسين" وربما اقتباس ازهر منه في مقدمة الكتاب هو ما ذكرني به ، لكن الاختلاف يكمن في المصطلحات والاجواء العراقية التي تجعل القارئ يعيش القصص بأدق تفاصيلها .مستوى القصص متذبذب فبعضها يبدو متواضعاً والبعض جيد جداً ، اما انا فأكثر قصة احببتها هي (دار دور .. الله أحد الله الصمد) بسبب ما حملته من واقع مؤلم جداً .في البداية كنت اود انهاء الكتاب في يومٍ واحد ولكن فيما بعد تركته كلما شعرت بالضجر قرأت قصة وضحكت.شخصياً اضحكتني القصص كثيراً وكان من المزعج أن في الكتاب ورقة مفقودة (ص٤٩-٥٠) كانت سبباً في حرماني قصة عذاب .في النهاية يخطر في بالي سؤال ماذا تعني شخصية (محمد دگمة) للكاتب ليكررها مراتٍ كثيرة في الكتاب لدرجة شعرت أنها حقيقية ولهذا اغلب القصص كان هو بطلها؟!
