شاعر وروائي وأكاديمي عراقي حصل على شهادة الليسانس في الأدب الإنكليزي من جامعة بغداد 1991 حصل على شهادة الماجيستير في الدراسات العربية من جامعة جورجتاون 1996 حصل على الدكتوراه من جامعة هارفارد 2006 أعماله صدر له ديوان شعر بعنوان " موشور مبلل بالحروب " عن دار ميريت، القاهرة ٢٠٠٤.
رواية بعنوان " إعجام " عن دار الآداب عام ٢٠٠٤.
أخرج فيلماً تسجيلياً بعنوان " حول العراق " عام ٢٠٠٤.
رواية "وحدها شجرة الرمان" عن المؤسسة العربية للدراسات والنشر، بيروت، عام ٢٠١٠.
ديوان شعر بعنوان "ليل واحد في كل المدن" عن دار الجمل، ٢٠١٠.
رواية يا مريم عن مجزرة كنيسة النجاة و ترشحت لجائزة البوكر العربيه و وصلت للقائمة القصيره و كانت عن دار الجمل لعام ٢٠١٢ .
الترجمات: ترجمت رواية إعجام من قبل الكاتب وربيكا جونسون ونشرتها دار سيتي لايتس في سان فرانسيسكو عام ٢٠٠٧.
ترجمت مجموعة من أشعاره إلى الإنكليزية ونشرتها دار هاربر ماونتن برس عام ٢٠٠٧.
ترجمت روايته "إعجام" ونشرت بالنرويجية والألمانية والبرتغالية والإيطالية.

الزمن ثقب أسود. حفرة تقع فيها الأشياء وتختفي حتى بداية كل هذا الوجود، بحسب إحدى النظريات، كانت انفجارا، وليس الوجود إلا شظايا وأشلاء. وها نحن نعيش تبعاته وآثاره. وأنا سأنتشل هذه الدقيقة من الثقب الأسود. لكن لماذا؟ هناك من يكتب ليغير الحاضر، أو المستقبل. أما أنا، فأحلم بتغيير الماضي. وهذا منطقي ومنطق فهرسي.
