لم تشهد مدينتنا مثل هذه العاصفة الهوجاء من قبل، فبالرغم من شدة امطارها الا أنها تبقى محافظة على مناخها الدافئ شتاءا. ها هي تلوذ بجميع سكانها بصمت مطبق، حتى الباعة المتجولون اللذين اعتدنا على مرورهم ثلاث مرات على الأقل يوميا قد تلاشوا.كم انا سعيدة لعدم سماع صوت الباعة من خلال مكبرات صوتهم المصاحبة لخشخشة الصدأ تلك ؛ فقد تراكمت من الاستعمال غير المنقطع لأيام وأشهر وسنوات. فبالرغم من ان الصيف يبعث بقلبي اللذة والسعادة الغارمة الا أنني في الوقت الراهن أشعر بالغبطة بما يحمله الشتاء من مزايا قد أشعر بالخجل من البوح بها.
أنظر من شباك نافذتي لعلي أصادف أحدا من المارة ؛ فمن وعورة الطريق في الخارج ومن استحالة مرور أحد ؛ ها هي ذاتي تتحدى عيناي بأن ألمح انسانا او حتى قطة قد تتمشى بمحاذاة المنازل متظللة بأشجار الزيتون التي اعتاد سكان مدينتنا على زرعها بحدائق منازلهم . أو حتى فأرا قد يسابق الرياح ليلجأ لجحر قريب. البيوت مغلقة والنور يشع من كل نافذة منها، وبقالة العم جابر المقابلة لمنزلنا مغلقة، وكل شيء ما زال ساكنا.
