لم يتسنى لأحد من البشر أن يحيط بجوانب شخصية الرسول الكريم محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم، كما لم يستطع أحد منهم أن يدرك عظمة المصطفى الذي جعله الحق سبحانه وتعالى رحمة للناس جميعاً وهادياً إلى نور الحق واليقين. وقد بذل الكثير من علماء الأمة وسعهم فألفوا وكتبوا في سيرة "المصطفى" صلى الله عليه وسلم وكلهم معترف بتقصيره في هذا الجانب ومقر بعجزه.
غير أن مؤلف هذا الكتاب قد أقدم على الكتابة في سيرة الرسول الكريم وأمامه غاية تتجاوز المعنى المحدود من رواية السيرة والاتعاظ هبا والاعتبار بنهج صاحبها فمعرفة الأمور القليلة عن السيرة متساوي عند مؤلف هذا الكتاب الجهل بها. فهو لا يريد أن تتحول الحقيقة الكبيرة إلى أسطورة خارقة لأن حياة محمد بالنسبة للمسلم يجب أن تكون مصدر الأسرة الحسنة التي يقتفيها ومنبع الشريعة العظيمة التي يدين بها، لذا فهو يحرص على إعطاء القارئ صورة صادقة عن سيرة الرسول محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم ويجتهد في إبراز الحكم والتفاسير لما وقع من حوادث مستفيداً في كل ذلك من السير التي كتبها القدامى والمحدثون حيث يمزج بين منهجي كل منهما، حيث يجمع من تفاصيل السيرة موضوعاً متماسكاً، ويوزع النصوص والمرويات الأخرى بحيث تتسق مع وحدة الموضوع وتعين على إتقان صورته و إكمال حقيقته هادفاً من وراء عمله إلى تنمية الإيمان وتزكية الخلق.
