"لستُ وحدي هذه المرة أنا والجدران بآجارها العميقة نصغي بكل ما فينا من جهل لحقيقتكِ وكلّنا شغف لمعرفتكِ من جديد.
كان عليّ أن أبدأ بسؤال يخلق الودّ بيننا، فقلتُ:
- لِمَ أنت هنا يا بُني؟
- قد تستغربين لو قلتُ لكِ أنا هنا لأسمعكِ؛ حينما أضع رأسي على فخذ زاوية أتلمسُ صوت الناي؛ ومعزوفتك لمقام الصبا كنتُ أسمعها وحدي كلَّ يوم؛ لكن غاض قلبي هذه الأيام حينما شاركني أهل الحيّ بهذا السرّ. لا أعلم كيف أصبح معلنًا! هم ينتظرونكِ كل يوم لتبدًا فيما بعد سجالات الشتائم بينهم."
